He served as a member of the Red Deer City Council from 1974 to 1986 before becoming a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1986 to 1993. ==Political career== Oldring served for twelve years as a member of the City Council for Red Deer, Alberta. He was first elected in 1974 and retired in 1986 to run for a seat in the Alberta Legislature.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Aldermen/Councillors: 1901 - 2004 )〕 He ran as a Progressive Conservative candidate for the provincial general election held that year in the new electoral district of Red Deer South.
